Gross, but I became quite sick after eating a Double Big Mac from McDonalds yesterday (I'm sure it was that b/c I couldn't eat anything else for the rest of the day). Perhaps I'll just look at meat for the moment rather than consume it.

FYI It was the McDonalds at Queen & Spadina - yes, the same one I photographed two days ago.

My uncle gave Lucky to me today because there was an electrical fire in the condo unit opposite to his which filled his home with smoke. He rushed home, but the fire dept didn't let him upstairs until he said there was a dog at stake. A fireperson knocked on his door and heard a dog barking but didn't know how big she was - so, in the end, the two of them went upstairs to retrieve her. Lucky was lucky today.

The three of us were able to talk ourselves in for free! I think the lady at the ticket booth took pity on us poor cash strapped students. I'm grateful, but in all honesty, the museum was quite small for a $7.00 admission fee. The really interesting stuff were the tar pits outside and they're always free to explore.

I think this was taken at the Laurier Metro Station in Montreal. I just wish the TTC had the same commitment to service as the Metro. The underground routes are definitely more extensive and the stations themselves are large and bright - except for the green line at Berri-UQAM which had the aroma of warmed urine. :P

Happy Chinese New Years! and Gung Hei Fat Choy! From Wikipedia, the lion dance is over a thousand years old and featured in Buddhist lore. There are variations of this dance in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore.

I just remember crying when I was little and my parents took me to watch these dances. :P

This is the bulb at the bottom of our stairway. It used to have a have a glass shade covering it. One day a friend changed the bulb. The round glass cover broke. It was shattered. Now the light looks odd. This was the story of the broken lamp, may it rest in pieces. ;)

I really enjoy the atmosphere of Nathan Phillips Square during this time of year. Everyone's having fun with their mothers and their fathers; their group of friends; and with everyone on the ice - an air of peacefulness abounds. It may be weird but I love it when the Zamboni comes and everyone gets off the ice, watching it - almost spellbound - go around and around for half an hour.

I didn't know this until recently, but there's a piece of the Berlin Wall at the southern base of the central arch. That's cool.

The devotion of a parent to a child is truly amazing. I had an awesome chance to observe this devotion many times over during the holiday season. And reflecting on this, I don't think I'll ever come close to giving back everything my parents have sacrificed for me - but I can certainly try!
